Songwriter and producer Jim Steinman died on 19th April 2021 from kidney failure aged 73. Thankfully they were wrong, and can say without any doubt that Jim was a true genius. “I made two albums with Jim, despite my record company initially thinking he wouldn’t want to work with me. “Jim wrote and produced some of the most iconic rock songs of all time and I was massively privileged to have been given some of them by him. “I am absolutely devastated to learn of the passing of my long-term friend and musical mentor Jim Steinman,” Bonnie Tyler wrote. The late songwriter worked on Tyler’s albums ‘Faster Than the Speed of Night (1983) and 'Secret Dreams and Forbidden Fire' (1986) and he penned two of her biggest hits, ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart’ and ‘Holding Out for a Hero.’ Bonnie Tyler also paid tribute to her “friend and musical mentor” Jim Steinman. ![]()
